Our Friday Club resumed this week after a short break. The theme of the meeting was God's forgiveness and we heard from Leah, one of our youth workers, who told her story of how God has always been there to forgive her when she has made mistakes. The children then enjoyed some activities decorating biscuits and playing games.
In our student zone we had a bible study looking at Mark chapter 14: the story where Jesus was anointed at Bethany. We discussed the words of Jesus in Mark 14:9: "I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman's deed will be remembered". We spoke of the fact that these words of Jesus were being fulfilled even now. The woman concerned bravely broke away from the crowd and did what she felt led to do. This led to a discussion about some of the difficulties young people can face as Christians when choices have to be made that can make them appear to stand out from the crowd. We talked of the need to be in the world and not of it, and the need at times to pay the price in this way.
In our other group, we looked at the story of the widow's offering. We discussed the importance of giving God everything we have and then went on to talk about the fact that sometimes God puts us in situations where we learn to depend on Him entirely. One or two folks shared very honest testimonies about God working in their lives.
Our evening finished with some birthday celebrations for two of our youth leaders. Lots of cake, chat and chill time together!
