Friday night youth work

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We had 54 kids at our Friday club tonight including a few new children. We started with a mixture of adult and children's songs as requested by the children. We did a little science experiment tonight which involved making a paper clip float on water. It was a lot of fun. This brought out the theme that Jesus is the only one that can keep us afloat! The children then went to their stations which included more science experiments, football, arts, crafts and games.

We had 4 new people at our high school meeting tonight. We began with some games which were greatly enjoyed by the young people before a short meeting. This began with some singing, followed by a short word. The speaking was based on the story of Cliff Young who won a 544mile marathon in 1983 because he was willing to plod on through the night hours while others slept. This was related to our Christian journey. We thought of some of the things that stop us running our personal races and the strength there is in Jesus to keep going. Leah then gave a short testimony to salvation before we closed in prayer. There was a lovely sense of God's presence covering the whole evening.
