We met together for a time of worship and song led by Rae. John then spoke from scattered verses on the subject of bitterness, resentment and hatred. How it eats away at us like a cancer if we let it take hold of us. Heb 12:15 tells us not to let the root of bitterness spring up in our hearts. Christ forgave his enemies because of His love and forgiveness, and if we can forgive others then God forgives us. There then followed a rich time of worship and singing in the Spirit before fellowship over teas and coffees. Next week is our last meeting before our break for summer and will be in the form of a supper evening. Come along and bring a friend.
We opened with prayer before sharing what God had been doing in our lives in this past week.
Carol preached on Colossians 3:2 "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth". Carol encouraged us to think about what is ahead of us within God's wonderful promise of eternal life.
We closed with a lovely time of singing and prayer.
We had a good meeting this week with a fairly good number from the local area present.
Mark began the night with a time of singing before Billy testified to how he became a Christian and was baptised in the Holy Spirit. Diana followed this by using a verse from Galatians 2:20 'I have been crucified with Christ.' She linked it in with several short readings from Amy Carmichael that had spoken to her that day. There was one reading that several folks commented on 'Our feelings do not affect God's facts.' It was the kind of sermon that everyone seemed to relate to! We closed with a beautiful time of worship and sweet fellowship with our Lord.
