Thought for the week by David Coyne

'...when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy' James 1:2 (NLT)

James is writing his letter as an encouragement to Christians and very wisely does not deny the reality that trial and troubles will come to even the most committed of Christians.

I am sure we have all faced varying degrees of challenges throughout our lives, some maybe even greater since becoming a Christian and following the Lord.

The instruction from James when we face our trials seems so simple - 'to consider it a joy'.  Upon first reading this it is natural to question where does this joy come from?.  This joy can only be found when we turn and seek our Saviours help, when we can only do one thing - to cleave to Him and become one with Him.

The more we rely on His help the deeper our relationship will be, our faith will grow and our joy shall increase.

May God be with you in your trials and that you find the joy in Him.  Amen.
