Thought For The End of 2013 by Annette Carmichael

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord...patient endurance is what you need now.'  Hebrews 10:35

2013 is almost at an end.  It has been a very busy year.  Our hands have been very full with all He has asked us to do for Him.  Recently I had cause to reflect on the work God has given me to do for Him and as I did so I felt a sense of discouragement creep in.  Is it really of any value, of any worth?  I often feel like that when I am tired and that tiredness can touch my spirit.  I often grow weary in well doing.  As I turned my heart to Him, He reminded me very clearly of a word of promise He had given to me in the past concerning my call.

'Be strong and courageous and do the work... the Lord God is with you... He will see to it that all the work is finished correctly.'  1 Chron 28:20

It came as a rebuke to me for forgetting His promise.  Nothing we do for our God is ever wasted.  He looks for us to give with cheerful hearts because we love Him.  He looks for us to be obedient.  He looks for us to do the work.  He doesn't always promise us success, but He promises to be with us in it.  It is vital that we hold on to all that God has promised us in His word even when there are no signs of fruitfulness.  My spirits were lifted and I rejoiced again at the faithfulness of God to me.  And not only to me!  As I looked around the areas of work I saw that God had crowned the year with fruit on every side for all involved, in every locality and in all He has asked us to do.  He has watched as we have pressed on to know Him throughout the year.

'The Lord will send rain at the proper time from His rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do.'  Deut 28:12
