Thought For The Week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

by Struthers Cumbernauld

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us...we have seen His glory.  John 1:14

I love the thought that Christ, the very expression of God the Father, described as the Word became flesh.  That tiny, vulnerable baby lying in a manger was God!  In that small child was the very expression of all that God is.

So often we think we are not very spiritual or able to understand mystical things.  We puzzle over different interpretations of scripture and wonder what they mean.

In the Christmas story God has made them so plain we cannot fail to understand.  What could be simpler than understanding the birth of a tiny infant?  He became the same as us so that we could understand God.  He lived among us so that we could see by His lifestyle how we ought to live.  In the simple process of observing these things, reading and learning about Him we discover 'we have seen His glory'

He has shone into our darkness.  Let us not be so dull that we fail to comprehend that Light.  A Light that cannot be extinguished, no matter how great the darkness.  Let the Light shine in your heart this Christmas time and in simple faith choose to believe that God has chosen to show you the way.
