Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'I will drive him like a peg into a firm place.' Isaiah 22:23
Although out of context this verse always reminds me of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He was driven by God, by men and by circumstances to the Cross, to die for our sins. He became the peg on which we could hang our burdens and leave them there.

There is no firmer, stronger place than Calvary in the history of mankind. Kings, queens, leaders and rulers have come and gone but Calvary remains the same 'yesterday, today and forever'. It stands through time and eternity immovable and unshakeable. Nothing can change it, no matter what happens in our present age. No matter how our laws change, or what happens to each of us in our personal lives, Christ's death on the cross stands strong and true. God has indeed driven Him like a peg into a firm place.

Let us come and hide ourselves in Him that we might find that immovable strength entering our spiritual lives. We too can be found in that 'firm place' beside Him, because we have learned to hang our burdens on Him.
