Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice.  Song of Songs 2:14

As we climb the stairs of life there will be occasions when we have 'special moments' with God.  Sometimes at a time of crisis or bereavement or even success.

He draws us aside from all that we are involved in, into a place apart and alone with God.  At such a moment spiritual things become very real to us and His Voice becomes clear.  He draws us out of ourselves and we feel Love that makes us feel peculiarly loved by Him.

How happy it makes the soul knowing that even for a few moments we are close to Him.  We remember these moments sometimes, for the rest of our lives.

There are many more 'secret places of the stairs' than we realise.  So often we miss them because we are too busy or too stressed (the thorns that choke us).  Let us climb carefully keeping our eyes open for these secret places, that we might find again and again that precious touch of His Love.

Then surely 'He shall rejoice over thee with joy' and our hearts shall be glad.
