Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'But Jesus made no reply' Matt 27:14

When Jesus was accused by the chief priests and elders, He gave no answer. To answer them would only have been to join them at their level of nastiness, lies and deceit.

The Man of Sorrows was far above them and didn't need to justify Himself to any man. In His heart He knew that He would sit 'on the right hand of power.' Matt 26:64 . He saw into the spiritual world, and knew it was more real than these men who tried to accuse Him and insult Him. His heart was at peace in the midst of the worst spiritual battle the world had ever known.

What an example is this to us! In the midst of life, let us remember how He dealt with this situation. He didn't waste unnecessary energy justifying Himself; explaining why He followed a particular course of action. Christ dwelt in the Father's quietness and strength.

Remember when others falsely accuse you or misinterpret your actions, our Saviour didn't justify Himself. He lifted His eyes into that spiritual dimension and saw the One who truly loved Him and to whom He belonged. Learn to do the same; look beyond the earthly to the spiritual dimension and rise into your inheritance.

'The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.' Prov 29:25
