Thought For The Week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.   Philippians 1:6

One of the devil's main tactics is to come to us with discouragement, particularly before something good happens.  If we learn to hold on to God through the storm we are often surprised by the blessing that follows.

As recently as this morning, when taking our Sunday morning service, I became aware of the devil's whisper to me, suggesting I was taking the meeting the wrong way.  I chose to ignore the voice and was delighted by the end of the service. The quiet revelation and depth of Christ that came to us, particularly during the communion time was excellent.

It is said of the Lewis revival that the opposition was fierce before the breakthrough of God.  Some would have capitulated but Duncan Campbell said 'No, don't do that.  It is always like this.  You wait, you hold, you go through, and then the opposition is broken to pieces and God comes through.'  When God is about to make princes of us, we make fools of ourselves.*

Does this ring any bells with you?  Do you often feel discouraged?  Learn to ignore the whispers of the enemy.  Remember it is Christ that has started a good work in you.  It is Christ who will perform it.  When?  Until the day of Jesus Christ.  Our case rests in Him. When you feel discouraged, trust that He will bring you through the other side to a blessing that is just waiting to fall.
