Thought for the Week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

This has been one of my favourite verses recently. It has been the verse we have used on the back of our door to door leaflets. Sometimes when we work for God, the work is fruitful, lives come in, get saved, baptised in the Holy Spirit and fit in well into our church family. At other times it just seems like uphill work! It has always been so with every work for God. It can be that way, not only in the church, but also in our personal labours for Him.

This verse in this context is very encouraging. He will not forget our work even when it seems futile. He sees the love we have for Him in endeavouring to speak to others about Christ. He knows we are only trying to help others even when at times we are misunderstood. And He knows we will continue to try our best and help others because we love Him.

He has called us to be faithful to Him whether we are successful or not. Let us remember these words ' he will not forget your work' . Continue to do your best for Him whatever the season and in due course He will reward you abundantly.
