Thought for the week by pastor Diana Rutherford

'As soon as you began to pray.'

Daniel 23:9

I find this verse fascinating!
If you read roundabout it in the book of Daniel, you discover the moment Daniel began to pray, something began to change in the spiritual world. We read the moment Daniel began to pray 'a word went out' in another translation it is described as 'a command was given'.
Do we have any idea how important prayer is? Does it ever occur to us that the moment we begin to pray something changes in the invisible spiritual world? If we really believed this we would pray more often, more fervently and certainly more effectually. Sometimes we are even too lazy to bother to pray!

It would be good to take time out and reflect on this verse and then to begin to pray carefully and deliberately knowing that if we are praying according to His will, our prayers may, like Daniels, cause changes we never dreamt of or imagined possible.
John 14:13 'You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.'
Remember, 'as soon as you begin to pray.'
