Thought for the week by pastor Diana Rutherford

By now it was dark. Jesus had not yet joined them.  John 6:17

Sometimes we go through dark times in our lives when the way is not clear and we feel we lose our bearings. We can either just resign ourselves to our circumstances and allow ourselves to grow dark within (perhaps even depressed) or we can wait patiently and pray for a change. It is never right to accept the darkness no matter how rough life becomes, because He is the Light of the world. We need to wait until Jesus joins us like He did in the story above.

He had sent the disciples ahead in the boat. They had been obedient to His command, but now, I think, they were beginning to wonder if He was going to join them. They didn't turn back, the disciples just kept going straight on, and we read how wonderfully Christ came walking on the water to them. And so, when things seem dark even when you know you are doing the right thing, keep straight on for suddenly Jesus will join you.

The truth is heaven is where Christ is. It is enough to have Him beside you and with you in life, no matter what.

Be encouraged! Even a whisper of His presence is enough for us to carry on with joy on the road ahead.
