Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'You will spread out to the right and the left.' Isaiah 54:3

This verse came afresh to me this weekend when I was taking a meeting in Merthyr Tydfil.

It is speaking about the children of God prospering in all directions.

People think Christianity can be very narrow minded. They think it is full of 'Thou shalt nots ...' When in fact it is full of 'Thou shalts ...'

When you truly enter into the full life of the Holy Spirit, you discover the Christian walk becomes the greatest adventure you can have. We saw something of that adventure this weekend as we witnessed lives coming to Christ and people finding help and strength in God. We went to a town where we knew no one and after only a few hours had made lots of new friends and received a warm invitation to come back again.

It is an adventure that satisfies the deeps within us because, not only do we see people receive help, we know that change within them can be permanent.

Begin to view Christianity differently and, rather than see it as being a narrow restrictive path that allows you little free choice, see it as the most wonderful satisfying adventure that you can experience.

You never know, perhaps the Holy Spirit will whisper in your heart 'You will spread out to the right and the left.' Then you will discover that God's choice is the best for you because it leads into the wide open spaces of His glory.

'He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because He delighted in me.' Ps 18:19
