Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'Pressed down, shaken together to make room for more.'

Luke 6:38

These are words spoken by Christ that describe Christian service. The more we give the more we will receive.

There are times when we feel pressed down or in today's terminology 'under pressure'. Our duty is to go on being faithful to God no matter how pressed down we feel. There are times when we are shaken by events in our lives. Our duty is to go on being faithful to God no matter how shaken we are.

God has a purpose and a plan for our lives. He allows us to be shaken and pressed down so that He can 'make room for more.' So, when you feel under pressure or deeply perturbed by circumstances rather than see it as something you should try to get away from, see it as God's dealings with the soul - your soul. He is refining you to give you greater blessing!

The multitude thronged around and pressed in on our Lord Jesus. He must have been tired - yet He went on. He must have been tired when special power went out from Him - yet He was overflowing with peace.

We must learn to hold on to that inner peace no matter what pressures come throughout the day.

Today, may the peace of our dear Lord fill every hour with peace.
