Thought for the week by pastor Diana Rutherford

'The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.'

John 12:35

The sayings of Christ always hit the nail on the head so perfectly. This is one that I love.
Do you know where you are going? Have you a plan and a purpose for life? An ambition or goal? I'm not talking about natural ambitions eg a car, a home, a holiday, a career etc. I'm talking about a spiritual, inner direction for your life.
Christ said 'a man who walks in the dark doesn't know where he is going.' In other words, he drifts aimlessly or is misled. Have you made up your mind what you believe in or are you still undecided; in other words 'in the dark'?

Christ said:
'I have come into the world as a light, so that no-one who believes in me should stay in darkness.' John 12:46
You don't need to be misled or wander aimlessly in life, unsure of what you believe in. Christ came to give us understanding and a definite purpose in life. As we step into His light, our minds clear, things we never understood before become simple to understand, there comes a definite goal and our lives become purpose driven for the glory of God. More importantly, we begin to taste real, eternal satisfaction.

Life is so busy that sometimes we don't realise we are 'in the dark' for many years. Don't let life rush past you so that you miss out on what's really important. Take time to consider eternal matters and make sure you are not 'in the dark' but instead you have a clear understanding and purpose to life.
