“Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1 4-5
Last week I spoke about having a strategic vision. The Lord Jesus also had a strategic vision. He knew that once the Holy Spirit had come upon the disciples they would be transformed. Only when they had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit would they be truly empowered to evangelise the world.
The first step in His wonderful plan was that they should wait. It seems a strange request when there was so much work to be done but Christ knew how important it was for them to be baptised; to have a real encounter with the living God.
His plan doesn't change. For each one of us it is imperative not only that we speak a few words in tongues but that we have a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit. It's only then we begin to be equipped to do His work under real anointing and power.
The pattern for any strategic vision is the same. It must be carefully thought out and planned. In God's work that's not our job, it's Gods! He gives the plan, leads and directs. Ours is simply to wait; 'to not leave Jerusalem' until we have received that inner commission and divine instruction to move forward in His work.
Once we receive this there will be no stopping us! We will have the command and confidence of one who has heard from the Master. We will be able to move forward knowing we go from the sanctuary of His Presence with that wonderful authority to see our part in God's strategic vision fulfilled.
