'After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray'  Mark 6;46

Jesus knew the Scriptures, He could quote them to crowds of people.  But when He went up into the mountain to pray, you don't read that He carried with Him the precious Torah.

How easy it is for us to fall into a rut of how we approach God, with our books, bibles and prayers.  We learn a lot from the Word of God and much from the writings of the saints, but there is something beautiful about the thought of our Lord Jesus going up into a mountain  alone to simply pray.

Let that be our first priority in our Christian walk to be alone with Him, to commune with Him ; not only to learn about Him but to come into the secret of His presence and to hear what He would say to us.
