As our conference continues God is wonderfully with us! We met in Struthers Church Greenock on Tuesday for an afternoon and evening service.
In the afternoon Andrew led a lovely time of singing before Alison Speirs preached. She spoke from Matthew tying in the story of the wise men seeking Jesus and the temptation of Christ. She spoke of how Christ overcame the enemy on every point. This was followed by a short time of prayer and worship.
In the evening we gathered again. The church was packed! We began with a time of singing which was followed by a testimony from a Greenock lady who spoke of how God had miraculously set her free from fear last year. We rejoice with her in this!
The New Year Word was then brought to us by Grace Gault. This is always very significant for our church and can often have a prophetic element. The word came from Hosea 6: 1-3. The focus was on verse 3 in the NLT;
'Oh that we might know The Lord! Let us press on to know Him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.'
It was a wonderful word with many elements. Different categories of people were addressed: those in need of inner healing; those who find themselves lukewarm spiritually and those who are following earnestly and are hungry for more of God. It brought food for all and an assurance that God is there to be found if we will press on to know Him.
The New Year verses are full of hope for the year ahead with the promise of blessing for all who will come and seek Him. We closed with a rich time of prayer and worship.
Our conference continues today, details can be found on our home page.
