Christmas Craft Fayre

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We had a fantastic craft fayre in our Cumbernauld church this week. There were lots of gifts available to buy, such as table decorations, paintings, home made preserves, baking and ginger wine. Alongside this we had our quiz and other competitions running. Around 80 people gathered, including several visitors. The evening began with the opportunity to browse gifts and purchase tea, coffee and home baking in our coffee shop. The event raised over £1000.

We followed this with a short, festive service in the church. We began with a time of singing traditional Christmas Carols. Leah and Heather then sang a beautiful duet. Following this Diana brought the word from John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." She spoke of how Christ existed before He first appeared on earth and the wonder of the gift given to us in Christ. She spoke of how it is not enough to simply have a vague, distant belief in Jesus, but to find Him deeply and personally in our lives. There was a lovely sense of the glory of God with us as we closed by singing 'O Holy night'.
