Bible Study

by Struthers Cumbernauld

Our bible study this week looked at Hebrews 11:6.
'But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.'

We discussed the meaning of the verse. Here are some of the things we discovered.

'But without faith it is impossible to please Him.'
The Holy Spirit touches us when we come into a meeting but it is our responsibility to respond to him. There can be an avoidance of responding to the Holy Spirit. We can shut the door of our hearts. Faith is a gift from God but we have to respond to it and grasp it when it is given.

'For he that cometh to God'
We cannot be saved without faith. We come to Him at the beginning of our walk and we must keep coming to Him as we walk.

'Must believe that he is'
We must believe He is God! When we have faith we surrender what we are and do in our lives. There comes a faith to surrender all.
If we continue to question God all the time we show we don't have faith, we don't trust Him.
Faith is something that grows. We need faith to believe that Christ died for our sins and find forgiveness. We need to move forward from this place. We need to exercise our faith so that it will grow.

'He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him'. Diligently or sincerely means the lack of pretence, a reality. There is a communicating of God's Spirit to our spirit because we are sincerely seeking Him. He rewards us when we sincerely seek Him.

We completed our study by being encouraged to respond to faith when it is given to us. When the Holy Spirit breathes faith within us then it is our duty to respond to the fire that comes within. We should pray until we are rewarded by seeing the answers to our prayers.
