Friday night youth work

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We had a good night at our Friday club this week with around 40 children. We began with some fun songs before singing some adult choruses that the children love. Shev gave his testimony. Afterwards the children had the opportunity to ask him questions. Tiffies then spoke briefly about choices, using a game to show that some choices are more important than others. She spoke of the importance of choosing Jesus, not just on a Friday but day to day. Following this we went to our stations which included outdoor games, parachute games, loom band making and balloon modelling.

In our student zone we had a time of games which Ailsa took charge of. We then had our meeting with a short time of singing led by Leah. Thereafter Zander spoke of the parable of the sower before he split us into groups to have a short time of prayer. The young people were all keen to take part and there was a lovely atmosphere with us.

The young adults stayed on this week to watch a short Billy Graham film, 'My Hope America'. It was very effective, including testimonies from people who were saved from a gangster lifestyle, from depression and suicide. It focused on the changing power of the Cross. The young people enjoyed it.
