Sunday youth work update

by Struthers Cumbernauld

In Sunday school today the children looked at the verse 'Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”' (John 8:12 NLT). They had a go at colouring a picture blindfolded and then without the blindfold to illustrate how difficult it is to do something in the dark. They then talked about how Jesus gives us the light to help us see clearly the way we should be walking as Christians. The children then made and decorated paper lanterns as a reminder of this verse. Children then enjoyed a snack before playing some games together.

In Bible class the children looked at the verse "How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word."(Psalms 119:9 NLT). We had some kitchen utensils that were covered in dirt and talked about how they couldn't be used for their purpose until cleaned. We compared these to our own lives being ready for God to use and talked about how we can do our best to stay clean. We then had a short time of prayer before enjoying a snack.
