St. Andrews Trip

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We had our traditional day trip to St. Andrews for our older young people this week. 19 of us travelled through on our mini bus plus a car load of young folks. The weather was not looking very promising for our day, however the rain was only on in short bursts later in the afternoon.
We had lots of games on the beach before a paddle in the sea. All this worked up an appetite, so we stopped to eat our packed lunches once folks had dried off. David then organised more team games on the beach while the volleyball net was being set up. Sadly, we had to submit to the weather at this point and pack up and go and look for a hall. The local community centre folks were fantastic! They allowed us in to use their sports hall free of charge, and also allowed us to use their tea bar for our chip shop tea. We left a donation with them to say thank you. Later we returned to the beach and David organised a game of two man hunt. This was followed by our traditional bonfire before it was time to pack up and head home. A great day had by all! Thanks to Pauline for organising another fabulous outing!
