Midweek outreach meetings

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We were delighted to have 2 new folks with us this week as a result of our special supper evening outreach last Wednesday.

We began with a time of song before Vicky shared her testimony to salvation and baptism in the Holy Spirit. Pauline continued the bible study on the gift of faith. There was some good discussion about when faith becomes a gift rather than general faith to believe. We discussed how faith is often used with one or more of the other gifts listed in Corinthians.

We closed with a short time of worship. There were some fruitful conversations at the end and it was decided that next week Diana will take the theme of phobias.

A smaller group of us met tonight. John led some singing, then Annette shared about answered prayer for one of her friend's  salvation before he passed away. Rae spoke from Genesis 15:1 on the Lord being our 'exceeding great reward.' A short time of  worship followed before we had some fellowship over a cup of tea.

We were glad to have Dean and Jason back with us tonight. The meeting opened with prayer and a time of sharing encouraging updates from the past week.  The sermon given by Graham on Sunday morning was mentioned as something that had really spoken to many of the group.

Carol spoke on Lam 3:21-23 and Mark 5:1-10.  The main theme being the compassion of Christ and the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end. Christ showed this in healing the demoniac man.  We need to focus on the kingdom here and to come to that knowledge that Jesus is interested in us.

We closed with another lovely time of prayer with some personal ministry and an encouraging prophetic word given by Carol.
