Friday Night Youth Work

by Struthers Cumbernauld

A great first night back to Friday club after the holidays. We had just over 20 children tonight and all were in top form. Leah led a time of action singing as well as some adult choruses. Some of the children wanted to teach us a new version of the song 'Abba Father', which they sang beautifully for us . Tiffies then spoke and asked for volunteers to crumple a piece of paper, apologise to it and then try to smooth it out. We quickly realised it couldn't be done. She spoke of the effect of words when we speak to others, but also the effect of nasty or unclean chat on our own hearts, and how we can only ever be made new inside when we ask Jesus in. We had outdoor games, quiz and arts and crafts following this.

In our student zone, young people began with a game of football outside. We had two new boys with us who seemed to enjoy the evening. We came together and Zander spoke about what it means to be a Christian and the fact that it is not about religion but a relationship with Jesus. Shev then gave testimony to the part in his life when Jesus became real for him and practical ways in which Jesus is with him in day to day life. We then closed in prayer.
