Our meeting started with a number of updates on some of the struggles folks had faced during this past week. There were a number of very positive comments on how Sunday's preaching by Alastair and Karen T had resonated with them.
Graham's topic for this evening was 'Keeping your eyes on Jesus', the place where we find a peace and place of security and feeling of protection. We can have this by keeping the knowledge of Christ in the forefront of our minds by spending time in prayer, attending church and simply spending time in fellowship.
The writer of Hebrews 12:1 highlights how we should deal with our trials: "Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us". The picture here is of running a race, the starting point (when we first came to know the Lord), the effort we need to put into run the race, with an endurance and patience even when the trials come against us, with our eyes fixed on finishing the race and all the time remaining in the faith.
Before closing the meeting, we turned to prayer and had a period of quietness to reflect on 'Keeping our eyes on Jesus'.
