Midweek outreach

by Struthers Cumbernauld

This week we started with a time of singing which was good. We learned a couple of songs which were new to most of the people in the meeting and also sang some old favourite hymns.

A few people gave some very encouraging reports at our time of sharing how God has been working in our lives over the past week. Three shared how, independently of each other, they were given opportunity to speak of their faith to neighbours and friends.

Last week we had asked for people to give suggestions of anything they wanted to discuss and a number of suggestions came in, one of which was the topic of salvation, which Pauline spoke on. We discussed what salvation is and how becoming a Christian causes real change in us. It was a profitable discussion revisiting the truths of the fundamentals of our faith.

Pauline closed in prayer to finish. Our next Motherwell meeting will be 6 July.

Our last meeting before finishing for the summer was a very good one with one new lady joining us.

John led some choruses around the theme of the Cross and Annette gave a very good testimony to salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit and the opposition she met years ago from others within her more traditional church who didn't understand about the things of the Spirit. Rae spoke on recognising sin in ourselves and having  absolute trust in what Christ can do for sin within our human nature. "For this purpose I came to this hour." Hallelujah, what a Saviour!

We finished with a time of worship and thanksgiving before tucking into a lovely buffet supper.
