Midweek meetings

by Struthers Cumbernauld

John started with some singing at the Airdrie meeting this week. We were soon in a Christmas mood and singing some carols. We welcomed Mitch back after having had his medical procedure.  He shared how uplifted he felt by the prayers of his Christian family.  Rae then spoke from 1 Peter. He encouraged the believers who were being dominated by the anti Christian values of the time. The letter was written around 50AD but applies as much now and could easily have been written today. We then had a time of praise to God for His protection and the priceless, pure inheritance that awaits us in heaven.

This week we had a Supper Evening as a follow up to our opening service last week.

We had 3 visitors along with our usual good crowd. After a lovely spread, chat and getting to know folks we had a short meeting. Leah and Mark led some songs before Diana spoke on the original verses she received in connection with the Newmains work. She quoted from Joshua 15:19:

“Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs."

Diana compared it to North Lanarkshire and how God had promised to give her springs in the north and the south. She reckoned it was the beginning of the fulfilment of this verse. We look forward to the next part of the fulfilment of the promise. We closed with a lovely time of worship and praise.

Our new folks seemed to enjoy their night. They were very warm and wished us every blessing in our new venture.
