Friday youthwork

by Struthers Cumbernauld

A busy night with just over 30 kids at our Friday club. Leah began with some kids' singing before having some adult choruses. Tiffies then spoke about courage and told the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and the fiery furnace. She linked this to some of the ways we need to be brave for God and the importance of remembering that He is stronger than anything we will ever face. Marianne and Debbie spoke to P1/2 about the promises of God and made rainbow toast. We then had some cake decorating and games.

In our student zone Mel took some games before we had a juice break. We then split into three discussion groups. Tiffies took our P7-S2 group, Scott took the middle high school group and Graeme took the young adults. Tiffies spoke to the younger group about salvation and looked at a number of verses that make it very clear that Jesus is the only way to God and what it really means to be saved. She talked about it not being enough to come along to church, but that we all need to have a definite experience of salvation. One of the young people indicated that she wanted to be sure of her salvation and asked Jesus into her heart as we all prayed together. Scott's group discussed the verse “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me." ‭‭Matt‬ ‭16:24‬. They had some very good discussion around what this means in our day to day experience. Graeme's group had some good discussion around the teachings of Jesus. A very good night all in and we are grateful to God for all He is doing among us.
