Friday youthwork

by Struthers Cumbernauld

We had around 30 kids at Friday club this week with two brand new kids. Tiffies started with a few songs before getting the kids to help act out the story of the Good Samaritan. She linked this into modern day life and how we can sometimes treat the ‘outcasts’ at school. She encouraged each child to think of someone they find it hard to be kind to and ask Jesus to help them make a special effort to show kindness to that person this week. One of the children asked if we could pray for his teacher who is sick, it was very nice to do that together. We enjoyed our quiz, games, arts and crafts and singing stations tonight. The children came back together for some singing and games at the end with Debbie and Stacy.

In our student zone we headed through to join Falkirk this week. We received a warm welcome with some hot chocolate and sweet treats to enjoy. We then had our meeting. Liam led some singing and taught a new song before Lesley spoke. She brought a word about Joshua speaking to the commander of the Lord’s army and how God is in charge of all things if we let Him be. She spoke about the walls of Jericho coming down and the walls in our own lives that can come down when we trust our lives to Jesus. We had a very nice time of prayer and worship to close. Our young people enjoyed being through and we are looking forward to having the Falkirk group at our meeting in a few weeks time.
