Thought For the Week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

'Thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle.' Psalm 18:39

'Before the gods will I sing praise unto Thee.' Psalm 138:1

This is how we fight our enemy.  Not with our fists, or with aggression, but with song, glorious song that never wavers in the face of all heathendom.  A song that comes from a heart that is unafraid before the gods.  What causes a soul to be unafraid?  Ultimately it is confidence in Him.  Love for Him. Joy in Him.  A soul in such a place can't help but sing even when it seems the enemy is towering over them.

He will gird us with strength.  The word gird means to 'encircle with a belt or a band' or 'to secure on the body with a belt or band.'  He secures His strength on to us so we cannot be afraid because His strength becomes part of us.  It encircles us so we are totally protected and our enemy cannot, cannot, cannot touch us!  No wonder we have just got to sing!
