'But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come amongst you.'

Luke 11:20

The casting out of demons is something that has always been contested. It was so in Christ's day, and is the same today. People are afraid of such things and would rather speak against them than welcome the power of change.
I love this verse! First, it is the 'finger of God' that deals with demons; not the hand of God, just a finger! It shows how effortless it is for our great God to deal with our enemy, even when he is inside the bodies of men. Secondly, because the kingdom of God has come amongst us. The kingdom is no longer far away, in heaven, or on some distant shore where we hear of God's reviving power, but among US. The reality and clarity of eternal Light in the midst of the church. This causes darkness to be brought to the surface and cast out. This is the reality of the kingdom of God! It doesn't really describe the church today does it?
Therefore let us seek to break through into the reality of His presence, where His kingdom has indeed come amongst us and darkness is cast out by His finger.
