Thought for the week by Pastor Diana Rutherford

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.' John 8:29

These are beautiful words and describe something of the relationship between Christ and His Father.

It also describes something of the relationship that we can have with our Father God through Christ if we choose to. He has promised not to leave us alone. (Hebrews 13:5) We like the thought of that! There is nothing more comforting to the soul than to know that the Creator stands with us.

The second part of this verse is not so 'comforting'.   It is our duty to do the will of God; to please Him by loving Him with all our hearts. This is how we please God:

John 14:15 “If ye love Me, keep My commandments." And so, if we want to know that we will never be alone, let us keep our side of the bargain and do what He commands us.

If we are unsure what that is, then let's do what we know to be right and He will reveal the rest to us.

To please God is the highest goal man, woman or child can have. Let us seek to reach it and to live to glorify His Name.
