Thought for the week by Ailsa Sharkey

'Whom have I in heaven but Thee?

and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee.'

Psalm 73:25

Quite often I find that God speaks to me through the words of a song. Recently, I was at the Saturday night meeting in our Struthers Glasgow Church. We were singing an old hymn, and the words are

"the King is coming, praise God, He's coming for me."

Although I've sang this song many times, on this occasion, it was like singing a brand new song. I became so overwhelmed with God's grace, and so aware that the One who is currently pleading for me before His Father's throne, will one day, come for me.

'Whom have I in heaven but Thee?'

Think about it, who else would you rather have? No other has the power to forgive sins, and wash us clean. No other acts as our advocate before the throne of grace. Because He is the perfect Lamb of God, He alone can plead for us. Praise His name! He is the altogether lovely, He is full of grace and truth and there is no other that could ever compare with Him. Why would we ever search for another?

Let your thoughts be centred on Christ this week. Think about Him.

in His kingliness and His loveliness and you will quickly discover that there is no comparison between Christ and anything else this world can offer.
